The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of St. Antony’s College serves as a vibrant platform to engage students in understanding and participating in the democratic process. The club conducts interactive sessions and hands-on activities to educate students about their electoral rights, voter registration, and the voting process, fostering informed, responsible, and ethical future voters.
Objectives
- To educate students about voter registration, the electoral process, and related matters through practical exposure.
- To provide EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) familiarization, ensuring awareness about the reliability and integrity of the voting process.
- To help students understand the value of their vote and exercise their franchise in an informed, confident, and ethical manner.
- To encourage members to spread electoral literacy within their communities.
- To facilitate voter registration for eligible but unregistered students.
- To develop a culture of informed and ethical electoral participation, upholding the principles “Every Vote Counts” and “No Voter to be Left Behind.”
- Awareness sessions on voter rights and responsibilities
- Demonstrations and hands-on experience with EVM and VVPAT machines
- Workshops on voter registration and updating electoral rolls
- Quiz competitions, debates, and poster-making contests on democracy and elections
- Observance of National Voters’ Day and Democracy Awareness Week
